Moxibustion by burning moxa sticks externally over the selected acupuncture points on the body to create warming effect.
What Is Moxibustion?
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese therapy that involves the burning of moxa — a dried herb, typically mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) — near specific acupuncture points on the body. The goal is to create a therapeutic warming effect that promotes healing, stimulates the flow of Qi (vital-energy), and supports overall wellbeing.
How It Works
In external moxibustion, moxa is shaped into a stick (similar to a cigar) and held just above the skin at selected acupuncture points. The heat generated from the burning moxa penetrates deeply into the body without touching the skin, creating a gentle, soothing warmth that activates the body’s natural energy flow.
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, moxibustion is especially beneficial for conditions involving cold, dampness, or stagnation, helping to restore balance and vitality.
