Cupping

Cupping by applying suction to the skin with glass cups to unblock the meridian channels and enhance Qi and Blood circulation and draw out accumulated fluid.

What Is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping is an ancient healing technique used in Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves applying glass cups to the skin with suction to stimulate circulation, unblock meridian channels, and restore the free flow of Qi (vital-energy) and blood throughout the body. It is a powerful method for clearing stagnation, drawing out toxins or excess fluids, and promoting overall healing.

How It Works

The practitioner creates a vacuum inside the cup — traditionally by briefly heating the air within it — and then places it on specific areas of the body, such as the back, shoulders, or limbs. The suction gently pulls the skin and underlying tissue upward, stimulating blood flow and encouraging the body’s natural detoxification process.

From a TCM perspective, cupping opens blocked meridians, improves Qi and blood circulation, and helps release internal dampness and cold. From a modern perspective, it may also relax tight muscles and fascia, reduce inflammation, and promote lymphatic drainage.

Key Benefits
  • Unblocks meridian pathways

  • Enhances Qi and blood circulation

  • Draws out accumulated fluid and toxins

  • Relieves muscle tension and pain

  • Supports respiratory, digestive, and immune health

  • Promotes relaxation and recovery

What to Expect

During a session, you may feel a gentle pulling or tight sensation where the cups are applied. The treatment is generally comfortable and relaxing. After cupping, circular red or purplish marks may appear — this is normal and indicates the release of stagnation. These marks typically fade within a few days.

Cupping is often used on its own or in combination with acupuncture and other therapies for enhanced effect. It offers a natural, non-invasive way to support physical and energetic health.
